A raging fire has erupted in england/%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%/heathrow/”>heathrow/”>Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 multi-storey car park/”>park this morning, sending thick black smoke soaring into the sky. Around 25 firefighters and four fire engines rushed to the scene after a vehicle, believed to be electric, caught fire shortly after 9am.

Main Tunnel Shut, Chaos on Roads

The main tunnel connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3 has been closed as emergency crews battle/”>battle-wales/”>battle the blaze. The %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% Fire Brigade scrambled teams from Heathrow, Hayes, and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% after receiving eight calls reporting the fire.

Heathrow Issues Update: Fire Quickly Extinguished

Heathrow spokesperson: "Earlier this morning our teams responded to a small vehicle fire in the Multi Storey Car Park for Terminal 3. The fire was quickly extinguished. The car park is temporarily closed, which may cause some congestion on surrounding roads."

"This is an isolated incident and all other car parks at Heathrow are operating as normal. We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience."

Travel Chaos: Road Closures and Bus Diversions

  • Southbound M4 spur heading to Heathrow shut from %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% 4.
  • Drivers advised to use Junction 3 on the M4 or Junction 14 on the M25 instead.
  • Bus services to Terminal 3 are rerouted, some terminating early at Terminal 5.
