Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters are battling a large blaze at an industrial yard on Manor Road in Erith, following a series of early morning emergency calls.
The London Fire Brigade was first alerted at 04:07am, receiving over 20 emergency calls reporting a fire involving several vehicles and outbuildings. Thick smoke continues to pour from the site, prompting public safety warnings to nearby residents.

“A large amount of smoke is being produced,” said a spokesperson for the brigade. “Residents in the local area are advised to keep doors and windows shut while crews deal with the fire.”
Firefighters have deployed a Hose Layer and High Volume Pump to ensure an adequate water supply to tackle the fire, which remains ongoing.
Crews from fire stations in Plumstead, Erith, Bexley, and other surrounding areas are working at the scene. Kent Fire and Rescue Service is also assisting in the multi-agency response.

As of this morning, the cause of the fire is unknown, and an investigation will begin once the blaze is brought under control.
There are currently no reports of injuries.
