A man in his 70s was found dead inside a parked vehicle outside the Asda superstore on Exploration Drive in Abbey Lane, Leicester, prompting a large emergency response early Saturday morning.
Police and Emergency Services Respond
At approximately 7:10am on Saturday, June 7, emergency services were called after the man was reported unresponsive in his car. Leicestershire Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene, but the man was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A forensics tent was erected in the car park, and multiple police vehicles, a private ambulance, and a recovery truck were spotted by onlookers, according to eyewitness reports.
Police Statement and Cause of Death
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said:
“Shortly after 7.10am on Saturday police were called after a man was found unresponsive in his car in Exploration Drive, Leicester.
Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the man, who is in his 70s, was declared deceased at the scene.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”

The incident occurred at the car park of the Asda supermarket near Abbey Lane, with a visible police presence throughout the morning. The store remained open but certain areas were cordoned off while officers carried out their enquiries.
