A man accused of driving into crowds at Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Paul Doyle, 53, of Croxteth, Liverpool, entered not guilty pleas at a court hearing on Thursday to a total of 31 charges, including:
- Nine counts of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent
- Two counts of wounding with intent
- Eighteen counts of attempted GBH with intent
- One count of dangerous driving
- One count of affray
The charges relate to 29 victims aged between six months and 77 years.
134 People Hurt in Crowds
The incident happened on Water Street in Liverpool city centre at around 6pm on 26 May, shortly after crowds had gathered to celebrate the team’s title win with an open-top bus parade.
Merseyside Police previously confirmed that 134 people were injured when a Ford Galaxy struck fans leaving the waterfront area.
Charges Expanded
Doyle was originally charged with seven offences, but prosecutors added a further 24 charges last month.
He appeared for today’s hearing via videolink from prison, where he has been held in custody since his arrest.
Trial Date Set
Doyle has been remanded in custody and is due to stand trial on 25 November.
