Emergency services are responding to a significant gas leak in Pimlico, central London, with evacuations underway due to dangerously high gas readings.

The incident was reported at just after 4pm on Rampayne Street, near the junction with Lupus Street. According to a fire brigade source  gas levels in a building’s cellar have reached explosive thresholds, prompting immediate evacuation procedures.

Specialist gas engineers have been dispatched to isolate the leak and ensure the area is safe.

Residents and businesses in the vicinity are advised to avoid the area and follow instructions from emergency personnel. Road closures are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in the surrounding areas.

No injuries have been reported at this time. Authorities are urging anyone experiencing symptoms such as dizziness or nausea to seek medical attention immediately.
