In a dramatic breach of airport security, a man was chased across the tarmac at Heathrow Airport on Sunday evening, running dangerously close to taxiing aircraft before being taken into custody by police and airport officials.
Tarmac Incident Caught on Camera
The chase, filmed by aviation livestream channel Big Jet TV, shows the unidentified man sprinting across an active taxiway at Heathrow’s airfield. He was pursued by at least four airport staff wearing high-visibility clothing, weaving near planes as ground operations continued.
The man, wearing dark clothes and a padded item around his waist, was finally intercepted by a Heathrow operations van. He stopped running before being tackled to the ground by security personnel. Shortly after, a Metropolitan Police van arrived and officers arrested the man without further incident.

Police and Airport Response
A Heathrow Airport spokesperson said in a statement:
“Working with partners, we have quickly resolved an incident at the airport involving an individual who accessed the airfield taxiway. The individual has been removed from the airport. The airport continues to operate as normal and passengers are travelling as planned.”
Police have not yet released further details about the individual’s identity or motive. There were no injuries, and flights remained unaffected.
Live Streamed on Big Jet TV
The incident was broadcast live on Big Jet TV, a YouTube channel followed by thousands of aviation enthusiasts. The presenter gave real-time commentary:
“What’s going on here? That geezer’s running from someone. They are chasing him. What are you doing mate? Get on the floor son, give yourself up.”
Clips of the chase have since gone viral on social media, prompting discussion over airport security procedures.
Ongoing Security Investigation
Heathrow and Met Police are investigating how the man accessed the restricted airside area. No flights were delayed, but officials say the breach is being taken seriously.
The airport has one of the most secure perimeters in the UK, and breaches of this nature are rare. Authorities have yet to confirm if any charges will be filed or whether the man intended harm.
