A man has been rushed to hospital following a suspected road rage stabbing involving a motorbike in Rainham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called at around 3:41am to reports of an assault at the junction of New Road and Cherry Tree Lane.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed:

“We were called at 3.41am today (25 June) to reports of an assault at the junction of New Road and Cherry Tree Lane, Rainham.

We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and treated a patient before taking them to hospital.”

The incident led to the closure of New Road while emergency services responded. The road has since reopened as of approximately 9:50am, but police remain at the scene to investigate the circumstances.

UKNIP  understands the victim was stabbed following a confrontation linked to a motorbike, and that the incident may be road-rage related. However, full details from the Metropolitan Police have not yet been released.

A spokesperson for the Met said further updates will follow once initial enquiries are complete.

Residents reported seeing a large police presence and road cordons in place throughout the early morning.
