A pedestrian sustained life-changing injuries following a serious collision involving a car on Eastern Avenue, Ilford. The incident occurred in 4.30pm on Saturday 7th December 2024 prompting a significant emergency response.

 

 

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 4 pm, where they discovered that the car had not only struck the pedestrian but had also ploughed into the front room of a residential property. Specialist collision investigation officers from the Metropolitan Police are conducting a meticulous investigation to establish the sequence of events.

As part of their work, officers have been performing a fingertip search of the area and using advanced scanning technology to recreate the collision. The road remains partially closed to allow for a thorough examination, causing disruption in the area.

A Metropolitan Police source confirmed that the pedestrian  and car  were involved. The occupants of the house were reported to have been inside at the time of the crash, but there are no immediate reports of injuries to the residents.

“This is a complex investigation involving both road traffic and structural impact,” the spokesperson stated. “Our specialist teams are working diligently to piece together what happened in the lead-up to the collision.”

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, and police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.

Further updates are expected from the Metropolitan Police as inquiries continue. Meanwhile, the community has expressed shock at the incident, with many concerned about the safety of the busy stretch of Eastern Avenue.
