Police are launching an investigation after a man was hospitalised following alleged threats made against multiple schools in Sidcup.
Man Taken to Hospital After Threats at Sidcup School
Officers were called to St Andrews Road at 2.56pm on October 9 amid reports of a man making threats at a local school.
The suspect was swiftly taken to hospital, and police stood down the immediate incident.
Today, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they have launched an investigation but said there are no other suspects outstanding at this time.
Precautionary Lockdowns at Sidcup Schools
Several schools in the area acted swiftly, putting precautionary lockdowns in place to protect pupils and staff.
Royal Park Academy sent parents an email describing a “serious situation” involving a “potential threat within the local area.”
“The safety of our children and staff is always our number one priority,” the school said. “Out of an abundance of caution and in conjunction with police advice, we have enacted a partial lockdown. All children and staff are currently safe inside the building.”
The school added they are working closely with police as the investigation continues.
Met Police Maintain Watchful Eye
A Met Police spokesperson assured locals that safer neighbourhood teams will continue daily patrols in Sidcup, ready to respond to any concerns.
This incident has understandably rattled the community, but police stress they are handling the matter with the utmost priority.
