Viral Video Shows Just Eat Driver Toss Delivery Into Stranded Thameslink Train During Heatwave Chaos

A Just Eat delivery driver has gone viral after being filmed throwing food into a stranded Thameslink train from the ground during the sweltering train chaos in south London on Saturday, 21 June.

The now widely shared clip  shows the driver standing at trackside level and launching food packages through the open doors of a Thameslink train positioned on a raised section of railway track.

Passengers in the train’s doorway can be seen catching the deliveries, with cheers erupting after each successful throw. The incident took place amid widespread disruption caused by a power failure near Loughborough Junction, which left multiple trains stuck without air conditioning during the 33°C heatwave.

Delivery During Delays

The humorous yet surreal moment unfolded during a serious service meltdown between London Blackfriars and Herne Hill, where around 1,800 passengers were eventually evacuated from stalled trains with help from emergency services, including the British Transport Police and London Fire Brigade.

“Earlier today, a fault on a train near Loughborough Junction brought all services to a halt in the area, three of them outside station platforms,” said a spokesperson for Govia Thameslink Railway and Network Rail. “This would have been a difficult and uncomfortable experience for our passengers and we are truly sorry.”

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that 25 firefighters were deployed to assist passengers walking along tracks in the blazing heat.

Social Media Reaction

Social media users quickly praised the Just Eat driver’s determination and accuracy under pressure, calling it a “masterclass in customer service” and “delivery dedication to a new level.”

Others questioned how the order was even placed and completed in such circumstances. “How was the location pin even set?” one X user joked.

Ongoing Disruption and Investigation

The delivery moment may have added levity, but the rail service disruption caused major delays throughout Saturday afternoon. Network Rail has confirmed that investigations into the cause of the electrical failure are ongoing.

Just Eat has been approached for comment regarding the video and the actions of the delivery driver.
