West Ham Star Michail Antonio Hospitalized After Ferrari Crash in Essex
West Ham United footballer Michail Antonio was hospitalized after his Ferrari crashed into a tree on Coppice Row in Theydon Bois, Essex, earlier today. The accident occurred near the home of the club’s chairman, David Sullivan.
The Incident
The crash, reported around 1 p.m., involved no other vehicles. Emergency services, including firefighters from Epping and Loughton, the East of England Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance, responded to the scene.
Antonio had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters and was subsequently taken to a central London hospital. West Ham United confirmed he is in a stable condition, conscious, and communicating, but remains under close supervision.
The road, located between Piercing Hill and the Wake Arms roundabout, was closed for several hours while emergency crews worked at the scene and the vehicle was recovered. It has since been reopened.
Club Statement
West Ham United released a statement saying:
“West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area.
Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.
At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening but will issue a further update in due course.”
Police Appeal
Essex Police are investigating the collision and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
An Essex Police spokesperson said:
“We were called shortly after 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, to Coppice Row following reports of what is believed to be a single-vehicle collision involving a Ferrari.
“Emergency services attended, and the driver has been taken to hospital. The vehicle has been recovered, and we are no longer on scene.
An investigation will be carried out by our Roads Policing Unit.”
