Fire crews rushed to the M27 after two young ducklings plummeted down a drain on the motorway’s central reservation. The daring rescue sparked a brief lane closure but ended happily for the ducks.
Quick-Thinking Crew to the Rescue
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service revealed a crew from Cosham “quack-ly” arrived on scene just after 11am. They accessed the drain between junctions nine and ten on the westbound carriageway. Traffic was briefly halted as firefighters worked swiftly to reach the trapped ducklings.
Ducks Reunited With Their Mum
The firefighters carefully lifted the ducklings to safety. They handed them over to an RSPCA officer, who reunited the fluffy duo with their mother on the hard shoulder. The fire crew left the scene around midday, proud of their “wing-credible” effort.
